Welcome to AMA Luxury Car’s Rental Requirements page. Before renting a vehicle from our Marrakech location, please review the following requirements carefully. These guidelines ensure a smooth rental experience and comply with Moroccan traffic laws and insurance regulations.

1. Age Requirements
Minimum Age
Standard Vehicles (Economy, Compact, Mid-size):
- Minimum age: 21 years old
- Minimum license holding period: 1 year
Luxury & Premium Vehicles (Mercedes, Audi Q8, Range Rover Sport, Porsche Macan, VW Touareg):
- Minimum age: 25 years old
- Minimum license holding period: 2 years
Young Driver Surcharge
Renters aged 21-24 years may incur an additional daily surcharge:
- Economy/Compact vehicles: 50 MAD/day
- SUVs and larger vehicles: 100 MAD/day
- Luxury vehicles: Not available for drivers under 25
Maximum Age
- No maximum age limit
- Drivers over 75 may be required to provide a recent medical certificate
- Senior drivers welcome with valid license
2. Driver’s License Requirements
Moroccan Residents
- Valid Moroccan driver’s license
- License must be held for minimum 1 year (2 years for luxury vehicles)
- License must be in good standing with no suspensions
International Visitors
You must present both of the following:
1. Valid Driver’s License
- Issued in your home country
- Valid for the duration of your rental
- Not expired or suspended
- Held for minimum 1 year (2 years for luxury)
2. International Driving Permit (IDP)
- Required if your license is NOT in French, English, or Arabic
- Must be obtained in your home country before arriving in Morocco
- IDP alone is NOT valid—must be accompanied by original license
- Valid for 1 year from issue date
Accepted License Languages
No IDP Required:
- French licenses
- English licenses (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, etc.)
- Arabic licenses
IDP Required:
- All other languages (Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, German, etc.)
EU Citizens
- EU driver’s licenses accepted without IDP
- Must be photocard format (not old paper format)
- All information must be clearly legible
3. Identification Requirements
All Renters Must Provide:
1. Passport or National ID Card
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Must match name on driver’s license
- Must be valid for entire rental period
International Tourists:
- Passport required (ID card not sufficient)
- Visa if required for Morocco entry
- Entry stamp must be visible
Moroccan Residents:
- Moroccan National ID (CIN) or passport
Additional Drivers:
- Must provide same documentation
- Must meet all age and license requirements
4. Payment Requirements
Accepted Payment Methods
Credit Cards (Preferred):
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Must be in primary renter’s name
- Must have sufficient credit for rental + security deposit
- Prepaid or debit cards accepted for rental, but credit card required for deposit
Debit Cards:
- Accepted for rental payment
- Security deposit must be paid in cash if using debit card
Cash:
- Moroccan Dirham (MAD)
- Euros (EUR)
- US Dollars (USD)
- Converted at current exchange rate
- Cash deposit must be provided if not using credit card
Bank Transfer:
- Available for long-term rentals (7+ days)
- Must be received 48 hours before pickup
- Contact us for bank details
Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit is required for all rentals:
Deposit Amounts:
- Economy cars (Clio, Golf): 3,000 MAD
- Mid-size/SUVs (Megane, Kia Sportage, T-Roc): 5,000 MAD
- Premium SUVs (Audi Q3, Range Rover Evoque): 7,000 MAD
- Luxury vehicles (Touareg, Range Rover Sport, Audi Q8, Porsche Macan): 10,000 MAD
Deposit Methods:
- Credit card hold (preferred – no charge, just authorization)
- Cash deposit (refunded 3-7 business days after return)
Deposit Refund:
- Released 3-7 business days after vehicle return
- Deductions made for damage, traffic fines, missing items, or fuel
- Full refund if vehicle returned in same condition
5. Insurance Requirements
Mandatory Insurance (Included)
All AMA Luxury Car rentals include:
1. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
- Covers vehicle damage in case of accident
- Excess/deductible applies (see amounts below)
2. Theft Protection (TP)
- Covers vehicle theft
- Excess applies
3. Third-Party Liability Insurance
- Covers damage to other vehicles, property, and persons
- Mandatory under Moroccan law
- Minimum coverage: 500,000 MAD
Excess/Deductible Amounts
In case of accident or damage, you are responsible for:
- Economy/Compact: 5,000 MAD
- Mid-size/SUV: 10,000 MAD
- Luxury/Premium: 20,000 MAD
Optional Insurance Upgrades
Super CDW (Zero Excess)
- Reduces excess to 0 MAD
- Price: 150-400 MAD/day (depends on vehicle category)
- Recommended for peace of mind
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
- Covers driver and passengers medical expenses
- Price: 80 MAD/day
- Up to 100,000 MAD coverage per person
Roadside Assistance Plus
- 24/7 priority support
- Tire/windshield coverage
- Price: 50 MAD/day
6. Documents Required at Pickup
Checklist – Bring These Documents:
✅ Valid driver’s license (held for 1+ years)
✅ International Driving Permit (if license not in French/English/Arabic)
✅ Passport or ID card (must match license)
✅ Credit card (in driver’s name, for security deposit)
✅ Booking confirmation (email or SMS confirmation)
✅ Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement – for some rentals)
✅ Return flight ticket (for international tourists – sometimes requested)
For Additional Drivers:
Each additional driver must provide:
- Valid driver’s license + IDP (if required)
- Passport or ID
- Must be present at pickup to sign rental agreement
First additional driver: FREE
Second additional driver: 100 MAD/day

- Remaining 50% + security deposit due at pickup

8. Pickup Requirements
Pickup Locations
Main Office:

Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK):
- FREE delivery to arrivals terminal
- Available 24/7 (arrange in advance for after-hours)
- We meet you at arrivals with your vehicle
Hotels/Riads:
- FREE delivery anywhere in Marrakech
- Specify exact address when booking
Outside Marrakech:
- Delivery available to Casablanca, Agadir, Essaouira (delivery fee applies)
Pickup Process
- Document Verification (5 minutes)
- Present driver’s license, IDP, passport, credit card
- Sign rental agreement
- Vehicle Inspection (10 minutes)
- Walk around vehicle with our staff
- Note any existing damage on inspection form
- Take photos/videos for your records
- Check fuel level (full tank provided)

9. Driving Requirements in Morocco
Legal Requirements
- Minimum driving age in Morocco: 18 years (but rental minimum is 21)
- Drive on the right side of the road
- Seat belts mandatory for all passengers
- Children under 10 must sit in back seat
- Child seats required for children under 3 years old
- Mobile phone use: Hands-free only
Speed Limits
- Urban areas: 40-60 km/h
- Rural roads: 80-100 km/h
- Highways: 120 km/h
- Speed cameras common—strict enforcement
Blood Alcohol Limit
- Legal limit: 0.02% (essentially zero tolerance)
- Do not drink and drive in Morocco
- Penalties severe: Fines, license suspension, imprisonment possible
Fuel
- Full-to-Full policy: Vehicle provided with full tank, return with full tank
- Unleaded petrol: ~12-14 MAD/liter
- Diesel: ~10-12 MAD/liter
- Gas stations common in cities, less frequent in rural areas
- Always fill up before long desert/mountain drives

❌ Off-road driving (unless 4×4 specifically authorized)
❌ Driving under influence of alcohol or drugs
❌ Subletting or lending vehicle to unauthorized drivers
❌ Transporting illegal goods or contraband
❌ Exceeding passenger capacity
❌ Smoking in vehicle (500 MAD fine)
❌ Transporting pets without prior approval
Geographic Restrictions
Within Morocco:
- ✅ Unlimited mileage anywhere in Morocco
- ✅ All major cities and tourist destinations
- ✅ Mountain and desert roads
Cross-Border Travel:
- ⚠️ Requires written permission (minimum 48 hours notice)
- ⚠️ Additional insurance required (arranged by us)

- Unauthorized cross-border travel voids insurance

Long-Term Rentals (30+ days)

Wedding Rentals

Luxury Vehicle Rentals
Additional requirements for VW Touareg 2026, Range Rover Sport, Audi Q8, Porsche Macan:
- Minimum age: 25 years
- Higher security deposit: 10,000 MAD
- Credit card mandatory (no cash deposit)
- Driving experience verification may be required
12. Return Requirements
Return Process
Return Location:
- Same as pickup (unless different drop-off arranged)
Return Inspection:
- Vehicle exterior and interior inspection
- Fuel level check (must be full)
- Mileage recorded
- Return all keys, GPS, documents
- Sign return form
- Security deposit release (3-7 days)
Return Times:
- During business hours: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- After-hours return: Arrange in advance (key drop-off available)
- Grace period: 1 hour (no charge)
- Late return: 100 MAD per hour
Before Returning:
- ✅ Refuel to full tank
- ✅ Remove all personal belongings
- ✅ Clean interior if excessively dirty
- ✅ Return GPS and all accessories
13. Additional Requirements
Traffic Violations
- You are responsible for all traffic fines during rental
- Fines forwarded to us incur 200 MAD admin fee
- Pay violations promptly to avoid license issues
Accidents/Damage
In case of accident:

Q: Can someone else drive my rental car?
A: Yes, if registered as additional driver at pickup. First additional driver FREE. Must meet all requirements.
Q: Do I need an International Driving Permit?

Q: What if I’m under 25?
A: You can rent economy/mid-size vehicles from age 21. Luxury vehicles require minimum age 25.
